Persevering until we reach our goal...

This week, as part of Growth Mindset Week, we have had extra assemblies and been able to watch cartoons that teach us about how we learn, with the monsters Mojo and Katy.

On Monday we learnt that our brain is a muscle, and we need to keep it fit by learning challenging things.

You can watch the video that we watched here

On Tuesday we discovered that by trying things lots of times, persevering and being resilient by learning from our mistakes, we could train ourselves to get better at something.

Remind yourself how Mojo did that here

On Wednesday we were shown the power of the word 'YET' - and how just because we can't do something now didn't mean we wouldn't be able to do it forever!

Find out what Katy did here
Enjoy the Sesame Street song 'The Power of Yet' here

Today we found out about how our brain learns, and makes electrical signals between parts of our brain called neurons. By trying something challenges, and working hard on it, we would make the pathways between our neurons stronger and start to find the task easier.

We have also been working hard and having fun in our breaktime challenges

Now we're even teaching the teachers how to do it!

Meanwhile, Class 2 have gone completely dotty! Having read 'The Dot' story, the children had a chance to create their own pictures out of dots. Here are some lovely examples. Note that after Tuesday's lesson, the children have persevered and often had a second go, seeing if they can improve on their first attempt.

It's our final day of Growth Mindset Week tomorrow, I wonder what we will have all learnt about our learning by the end of the week?
